Description: This is a fully polished piece of Burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a worker ant with a wasp from the Cretaceous Period. These insects would have been on the Earth at the time of the dinosaurs including T-Rex and Triceratops! Geological studies have dated Burmite amber to be around 100 million years old. The piece itself weighs 1.3 grams with approximate dimensions of 2.7 cm length by 1 cm width and 0.5 cm height. NOTE: 2.54 cm is 1 inch.Please see my feedback. This piece is genuine amber formed over millions of years of polymerization.Burmese (Burmite) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs. However, many amber sources or even specimens will not float in saltwater as their botanical (plant) composition as well as fossil inclusions are such that they are more dense than saltwater and so sink.
