With this slider, you can easily mount the PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) lapping films (sold separately) to a dedicated surface instead of using the ceramic stone that comes with the sharpener. Using this will allow you to save time by not having to peel and stick films to your ceramic stone every time you change grits. You will also preserve the films adhesive from excessive use. With films mounted to this slider, it is also possible to grind both directions (up and down) on the blade with minimal risk of cutting into the films.
