Black metal. i do not know how these work or much about them. you can look in one end and see through the other end and there are several black lines. when looking through this the inside is a little "cloudy/dirty"(i wonder if it can be opened and cleaned?)- but you can definitely still see. the top has a little glass cylinder with liquid and a bubble like you would see on the level a carpenter uses. this comes with the box you see which has the wear shown in the pictures.
