Description: 10 years after Lolita True first edition of Nabokov novel, ADA This is a stated First Edition of ADA by famed Russian novelist, Vladimir Nabokov. It was published by McGraw Hill in New York in 1969. Hardcover book is in very good condition, with no bookplates or underlining, no library stamps, no names or other writing, no remainer of library stamps. This is the original trade edition, not the commonly found Book Club later printing. Binding is holding well, and internally the book shows little sign of previous use after 63 years. Inside pages are clean and bright. There is some toning and foxing along the outside of the textblock, and a scuff where the bottom has touched the shelf. Front and rear boards and spine are in near Fine condition, with no signs of handling, sharp corners and crisp gilt titles on the spine. Jacket remains in good condition with some chipping and a reinforcement to the lower right corner. iIt has been is preserved in a mylar archival sleeve which can be easily removed if you wish. The author Nabokov was born into a wealthy, aristocratic family in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and spoke fluent English, French and Russian as a child. His family fled the country after the Russian Revolution in 1917 and lived in western Europe until the Nazis invaded in 1939 when he moved to the United States. His first 9 novels were written (in Berlin) in Russian but he was best known for his 1955 book, Lolita, that brought him fame and fortune.
