I've seen these described as Yemeni, Etruscan, Spanish, Italian ... so I'm just guessing here with the age/origin. It's been carefully tucked away in my storage for over 15 years. It belonged to a dear friend who was a professional belly dancer in the SF Bay Area for over 40 years (now retired). This is a silver plate over copper and the silver is wearing through in most places showing the copper beneath. There is a safety pin to hold it closed (but it used to have a ribbon to tie it closed but that was in very bad way so I removed it). Wear: Slight signs of wear are considered typical for authentic vintage pieces, such as light surface scratches or patina.
