Description: This desktop was bought (from Tigerdirect, I think) by my father ("refurbished") for my sister to use in college in the early 2000's. I think 2000, but I'm not positive. Anyway, she used it for a year or two before switching to a laptop. This thing has sat since then. When my father asked if I wanted it, I said sure... thinking it would work and I could sell it after tinkering with it. Two USB Ports, PS2 Ports, Ethernet card (added), Built in Sound, Parallel, and Serial DB9 Ports... AGP Slot with an ATI Rage Pro video card. Well, I just powered it up and it doesn't work - gives 3 beeps... a long and then two short beeps. Likely a RAM issue. Nothing on the screen. I tried swapping the RAM with two modules I had on hand, but no luck. The hard drive acts as it should (no angry clicking, etc), CD Drive opens up, etc. So... it's currently NOT WORKING. So this machine is sold as not working - "AS IS". What you see is what you will get. I would imagine with some more time and different RAM it would be easy to get going, but I have other projects... too many, really. I imagine it still has a functional OS on it... but I'm not sure if it was wiped or not. If you do get it running, I ask that you please delete any personal information that might be on it. It will need a new CMOS battery, too, I'm sure. As you can see, it's a Model 500DP. The "RB500DP" is the reseller model with RB short for "refurbished". A video of pretty much this exact machine being played with and fixed can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqWuvyNHLsM This machine is HEAVY and big. If you're local, contact me about picking it up to save on shipping.
