Description: Vintage Atlantic Puffin Decoy This handsome Puffin decoy was hand carved and painted by Richard Travis Smith (1925-2015) of Beaufort, North Carolina. An avid decoy carver, he was a member of the Decoy Carvers Guild on Harkers Island, N.C., home of the Core Sound Waterfowl and History Museum. One of Smith's decoys was included in author/artist Cotton Ketchie's collection of vintage decoys by renowned carvers, accumulated over 35 years and auctioned in 2017. This Puffin is hand signed on the bottom by Smith and reads: "Puffin by Richard Smith 116 Gordon Street Beaufort, N.C. 28516”.It measures 10" long x 4.75" wideNo cracks or damage to the carving.
