VINTAGE A C GILBERT AMERICAN FLYER “THE METEOR” K-5329 BOXED TRAIN SET

Description: A C Gilbert American Flyer “The Meteor” boxed train set. Mfg. in 1954 by the A C Gilbert Co.here in New Haven, Ct. I purchased in late 1990,s to start a American Flyer collection. I completely disassembled engine and cleaned out every bit of old grease and residue as seen in last picture of drive gear. I replaced brushes and brush springs . ,Set was stored away in dry smoke free home. Everything seen in pictures is included in set. If not in photos , it did not come in set when I purchased . It’s just the way I received. Set looks to be in very nice condition. I do notice a bit of pull more drive wheel rubber worn on the AF 293 Steam engine as seen in bottom of engine pictures, on 1 drive wheel . Strong box, Set number on box is weak but legible as seen in picture 1 . I just lubed engine to test, runs forward and reverse. Smoke, choo-choo , headlamp and red glow smoke stack working fine. Car boxes, all clearly labeled and numbered and in nice condition. 2 of boxes backs are taped. All fronts have flaps . Also transformer cord end was replaced at some point . Also included but not in pictures a 690 track connector. PLEASE NOTE, (White instruction booklet and A F catalog not included, shown only for reference).
