Hohner M. Hohner Harmonicas has a rich history, it’s origins go back over a century to Germany in 1857. There a 24-year-old clock maker Matthias Hohner began crafting diatonic harmonicas assisted by his wife and a single employee in the small town of Trossingen, Baden-Wurttemberg on the edge of Germany’s Black Forest. In the first year, 650 were made. The company became Hohner Musikinstrumente GmbH & Co. KG, a manufacturer of musical instruments. Their Hohner harmonicas quickly became popular, during his lifetime Matthias built the largest harmonica factory in the world. During the American Civil War, Matthias Hohner distributed harmonicas to family members in the United States who in turn gave them to the soldiers. Although widely known for their harmonicas, Hohner also manufactures a wide range of instruments including kazoos, accordians, recorder flutes, melodicas, banjos, guitars, basses, mandolins and ukueles. Many famous musicians and artists have played Hohner instruments. Thank you for looking, every effort is made to be as accurate as possible in our product descriptions.
