Description: 1966 Horsman Doll Company Mary Poppins Doll, 36" tall, Playpal type doll, celebrity doll that has a chubbier body more like a child than an adult. From HORSMAN DOLLS-THE VINYL ERA 1950 TO PRESENT-IDENTIFICATION AND VALUE GUIDE by Don Jensen p. 109: " Disneyana-it was pending the release of the Disney film MARY POPPINS in the fall of 1964 that triggered a new Horsman's interest in Disney character dolls and related accessories. The first of course was 12" Mary Poppins. Who actually looked quite like the very proper but kindly umbrella toting Julie Andres character from the movie. In 1965 this doll got bendable super flex arms, and a fully jointed 16" Mary Poppins was added. The line was expanded in 1966. In addition to individual Mary Poppins dolls, there were sets that included the 12" nanny's charges, 8 " versions of Michael and Jane. YOU ASKED FOR IT CHILDREN...NOW THEY ARE read Horsman's advertising literature. And climbing aboard the big doll bandwagon, Horsman added a 36" walking Mary Poppins as well as a 27" version The 1966 Huge 36" Horsman Walking Mary Poppins Doll of the HORSMAN DOLL COMPANY "America's Best Known and Best Loved Dolls since 1865" I got this doll many years ago with the intent to display her then life happened and I never did. She is in exactly the same condition as when I received her. I did not want to remove her clothes for fear of any possible damage to the clothes She is overall nice for her age but does have some flaws. Read below and view all photos. There are two small fabric areas on her jacket, one on the left front and one near back collar Her stocking have some small holes I believe the original hat had flowers on it and I am unsure if this is the original with the flowers missing or a replacement. It has many areas where the color is missing (chipped off) The umbrella is old, but not original to the doll, probably even much older. It has what looks like possibly Jack and Jill printed on it. It can be easily displayed either folded up or if opened up, they can be hidden from view. Coating on wood handle is chipped in many places as seen in photos. Looks to be slightly faded and/or just dusty. She has a darker streak under her jaw. Came that way and I never tried to clean it off. I have no idea if it can be removed or not. Depending on how she is positioned, it isn't real obvious. I am pretty sure the shoes are not original to her She has painted eyes and long lashes which are nice Hair is nice and in a bun with just a few straggly hairs I believe the walker part of her works as it should Alittle TLC from someone who knows about dolls could have her looking really nice Selling her As-Is Will add insurance and possibly signature confirmationBox is large, so shipping will reflect this.
