Description: ***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - Although the ETA 2783 automatic movement runs strong it loses several minutes by the end of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period and the replacement crown winds with tension. Given these issues and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.***********This seldom seen vintage 1970's Sentinel has an orange accented matte black dial that shows chipping and age-related wear and the lume, which emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The stealth bezel shows significant wear and rotates bidirectionally a bit too loosely. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear and oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "STAINLES STEEL WATERPROOF ANTIMAGNETIC AUTOMATIC" with "20 ATM" stamped in the center. The crystal needs to be replaced. The 25 jewels Swiss stamped ETA 2783 automatic movement with quickset date function runs strong, albeit slow, and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pulling out the replacement, non-screwdown crown to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions the movement lost several minutes by the end of its approximate 41 hour power reserve period. Although the crown winds with tension the time can be set without issue. Given that the movement runs slow, the replacement crown winds with tension and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 39 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 10 mm. Given that the movement runs slow and the replacement crown winds with tension a complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. For this watch that time is now.
