Description: 1966 Platinum IWC Video: https://youtube.com/shorts/q3kwkv_F1DE For sale is another vintage platinum IWC, this one dating to 1966 based on movement serial. It uses the caliber 8541 movement, one of the final iterations of IWC’s excellent 85 series of automatics introduced in the 50’s. The 8541 was the first to introduce a hacking function. The dial on this is in incredible condition, virtually mint with almost no signs of patina at all. The case is a style introduced in the early 60s, with triangular tapered lugs and a flat instead of angled bezel. The case is in good condition with a nice sharp edge on the bezel that lets the polished platinum reflect light nicely. Case measures 35mm wide without crown, with a 42.3mm lug to lug length and 18mm lug width. Service history is unknown but the movement is very clean and runs, winds, and sets smoothly. Watch is shown on my ~6.75” wrist in the pictures for reference. I have been selling watches online for over 10 years, first as mmcmhn on Watchuseek forums and more recently as u/mattmcmhn on Reddit.
