This is a midsize watch, measuring approximately 33 mm excluding the crown, approximately 36 mm including the crown and approximately 17 mm between the lugs.***********This seldom seen vintage 1960's Bulova Sea Clipper, which came from the estate of its original owner, has an aged Explorer-style "SWISS" only signed dial. The lume, which no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The all stainless steel lugholes case shows honest wear, dirt residue and signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "BULOVA | STAINLESS STEEL CASE | ANTI-MAGNETIC | SHOCK RESISTANT | SELF- WINDING | WATER PROOF" with "WATCH COMPANY" followed by "INC." and "78287" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal needs to be replaced. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale I'm unable to remove the case back on this watch. The automatic movement runs strong and keeps accurate time. After winding the signed, non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an approximate 37 hour power reserve. After winding the crown it's necessary to gently spin the watch face down on a soft, flat surface in order to jump-start the movement. The crown winds smoothly. Given that this watch is more than 60 years old, that the movement needs a jump-start and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 33 mm excluding the crown, approximately 36 mm including the crown and approximately 17 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 7.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9.5 mm. This watch comes with its original inner and outer boxes and papers which show age-related and storage wear. Given the vintage nature of this watch, that the movement needs a jump-start to get going and considering its unknown service history service history a complete overhaul is recommended.
