Vintage 1950s Sz 0 Shaheen Surf 'n Sand Hawaiian Dress Red Gold Silver **READ

Description: What a rare find! Beautiful, vibrant mid-50s Alfred Shaheen dress under the label Surf 'n Sand. The fabric and dress are a collector's dream! Fabric is like new in both color and feel. Red is bright; gold and silver are shiny. Ruching is springy and in very good condition. I reached out to the Shaheen Museum to confirm an age. I was blessed to have received a response from Alfred Shaheen's daughter Camille. She was able to confirm that this fabric, while not super uncommon, is an early print of the Lehua flower and that the dress is from the mid-1950s. She noted that it has been hemmed quite a bit shorter than it had originally been. Some things to note (see photos as well):- This dress is very, very petite - almost girl sized. I took measurements flat and as you can see this is around a size 0. It was too small to zip up on my dress form! - I'm unsure of the cup size (I don't know how to measure this), but the cups seem sized for the petite breast as well. I would guess an A cup size, but don't quote me on this. - Shortened. The skirt has been hemmed to 23 inches. It appears to have been done by hand and very nicely. - Some stitching on the hem is coming loose. It should be an easy repair for the home sewer.- Two different buttons. Evidently one of the buttons was lost and they replaced it with as close a match as possible.- Loose seam under the right breast. It's not completely gone but should be repaired prior to wearing. It's a fantastic dress and definitely one for the collector. Beautiful enough to have framed and put on your wall. If you're lucky enough for this to fit you, even better!
