Farmer provided scientific explanations of the chemical processes that occur in food during cooking and helped to standardize the system of measurements used in cooking in the USA. Fannie published her best-known work, The Boston Cooking-School Cook Book, in 1896. Preface to The Eighth Edition States: “This revision, the fourth which I have undertaken, contains, indeed, more alterations than any other, as a result of the remarkable progress made during recent years.” This cookbook is complete, clean, tight, and no: marks, writing, folds, tears on pages. It has tight hinges; the board edges and corners are particularly good. There are no stains or smudging within the text. It does have name written on first page.
