Purchased directly from the Larsen Studios showroom in 1973 as ''old stock'' . Clearly stamped 1969 as date of production for Jack Lenor Larsen Inc and listing Jack Prince as its designer. Some was used by my family's Interior Decorator business back in the 1970's. This is what is left. This strongly colored and Nordic/Celtic-oriented design is highly evocative of the MCM/ mid-century style and is a rare collectible textile, especially one NEVER USED, and is featured in several Textile Museums as well as Art Books on Jack Lenor Larsen. Medium-weight with a Gabardine/Twill weave in 100% Wool, it has a smooth nap, soft hand, sturdy weave, and stunning 'face' with its cross-bracing panels featuring both Early Celtic Church(similar to those seen in The Book of Kells) and Traditional Viking/Nordic elements in Bright Turquoise, Amethyst Purple, Marigold Yellow, Key Lime Green, and Raw Umber with Creamy White and Slate Gray.NOTE: the NAMES of the colors are mine; refer to the photo with the colors arranged in on the selvedge for a more 'correct lineup'.Design measurements> The vivid Raw Umber center section in each 'check' is 5 1/8'' x 6 1/8'' with slim outlining borders in a Creamy White with a hint of a Pinkish undertone, plus the boldly designed bands running 2 1/4'' wide featuring the remaining colors and repeating of the Raw Umber. The Twill weave emphasizes the colors and shapes as well as stabilizing the fabric. Great for Upholstery or Pillows or other Home Decor projects that might utilize Quilting or Applique' techniques, as well as for Textile Art garments.NO serious issues. I noticed a very few light aging/atmospheric spotting in the margins only. NO fading/splotching, tears/holes, moth damage, or other issues. This material was stored in a cedar chest for decades; no unpleasant odors. NO returns. I combine shipping where possible. If you wish to purchase more than one unit of 18'', please wait to pay so that I can adjust your shipping charges on your invoice. Your package might be shipped anytime between 2-10 business days. See my other listings for more vintage fabrics as well as for another J.L.L. material from the same era and designer.
