The railing fits into the groove as shown in the photo.Glue in place with a silicon glue, museum wax, or putty.These are available in lengths to match the NWC110 and NWC220 Widow's Walk fence. It is ready for you to finish with paint, stain, shellac, or polyurethane after a light sanding.The post is made of basswood.
