Description: Rare Ohio Art 1920 ~ ABC Kittens ~ Tin Litho Tray This winsome tin litho tray was made by the Ohio Art Company, Bryan, Ohio, an American company which was a premier manufacturer of old tin toys. The plate bears the stamp "Ohio Art Co. Bryan, O. U.S.A." The tray was made in the 1920’s as part of a toy tea set. It was one of the earliest toy tea sets, and among the first that included the alphabet. The Tray features the alphabet around the perimeter, surrounding a lithographed illustration of a two kittens playing with a ball of yarn, a very colorful and beautifully executed design. These tin litho miniature or toy teasets were made as doll house accessories or for childhood tea parties, and were used to aid in the education of young children. The pattern is discussed and illustrated in the book “Ohio Art World of Toys”. The tray is 6-1/4 inches in diameter. It has been played with by generations of children, and shows creases indicating the child who owned the tray used it to bang on furniture and make noise. In good overall condition, with bright colors and some light edge wear. The photos are considered a part of the desciption.Sold as is, as shown and as described.
