Description: Tim Buckley - Original 1989 Enigma Retro USA LONGBOX CD: Greetings From L. A. - Originally issued on LP in 1972 Comments: I have owned this since sometime around 1989/1990 when I bought it new. Longbox Condition: This original Longbox looks good for the most part. I gave it a VG grade. Please see the photos for the most complete view of condition because I might not describe everything in words. Use your zoom-in powers for a real close look! The front and back panels show only light wear / light scuffs. The box apparently took a hit at the top at some point in its travels because there is a crush crease/dent all along the top edge and a lesser dent/crease on part of the bottom edge. A few other small surface creases can be found, but nothing else major. Aside from the top/bottom dings, edge and corner wear is mostly light. There are 4 sets of relatively unobtrusive pinholes (3 at top corners, 1 near center bottom) from spending time on a wall (see my generic explanation below). Somehow, 2 of the top corner pinholes each ended up with 2 exit pinholes on the back side. The longbox was carefully opened at the bottom without significant damage (although part of the inner flap remains attached to the underside of the outer flap). The top flap is still sealed. This longbox has never been flattened and it retains its original 3-D form. CD Condition: The CD is in Near Mint condition with a few light marks on the outer edge. I gave the CD a listen from start to finish just before offering this for sale. It plays just fine as expected. The 8-panel fold-open front insert and the back tray card are in Near Mint condition except for a couple light jewel case pinch impressions on the front insert. The jewel case is fully functional with some handling and storage scuffs. Pin Holes Comment: Compared to some of the other flaws a longbox might have (crushed, crumpled, torn, banged up, flapless, flattened), I think pinholes are pretty minor as far as imperfections go. I only make a point of conspicuously mentioning them so you won't be surprised. Shipping Note: Of course I'll pack this well for secure shipping. If the mail carrier isn't able to hand the package over in person, then it may have to be picked up at the post office.) Generic Explanation Of My Longbox History and Pinholes: Here's the deal. When CDs were a new thing looking to be big enough to be seen amongst the LPs and longboxes were in fashion, I always carefully removed the CDs and put the longboxes in a safe place. They were part of the album's packaging for crying out loud! I couldn't throw them in the trash anymore than I could throw an LP cover in the trash. Not wanting to flatten the things out, they remained in their 3-dimensional state in box after box that I lugged around through many changes in houses over nearly 25 years. Around 2010, I decided that I had had enough of moving. I also had a large space that needed decorated with a music theme. The longboxes came out of storage and I carefully hung them on my soft walls with long ball-tipped straight pins. Now I'm ready to allow some of the longboxes to find new homes. There will be (generally) small pinholes. Don't worry about shipping. I won't flatten them out for convenience. They will be shipped in a box large enough to allow retention of 3-D form with some cushioning to ensure safe travels. Please see the photos provided for more condition details.
