I'm the actual director of these two documentaries. This is War-Memories of Iraq chronicles the Oregon National Guard's 2/162 Infantry Battalion and their intense combat that took place in the 2004. Most of the footage was shot by the soldiers you meet in the film. It is raw, intense, at times funny and gut wrenching. Shepherds of Helmand, follows a small all-volunteer force of Oregon National Guard soldiers who deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 to help train the Afghan National Army. Their mission soon leads them to the dangerous Helmand Province where they are attacked for three straight months in a remote patrol base known as FOB Attal. This group became one of the most decorated units in Oregon National Guard history. Narrated by Donald Trump Jr. (before his dad became President) with a few songs kicked in by the Zach Brown Band. Combined these films won 16 film festivals including the prestigious GI Film Festival in Washington DC for "Best Documentary" . Also features footage shot by the soldiers who were there.
