Made by George Edward Madeley ( 1798-1858). Published in 1830 by Thomas McLean (1788–1875). Fine British satirical lithograph with a man constructed of objects connected with his trade. He wears a cap of tobacco-leaves, his body is a cask of 'Tobacco', his forearms are thin long clay-pipes, the fingers being cigars, the upper arm is a large tobacco-leaf. His thighs are bundles of tobacco, the legs from knees to feet are canisters and boxes of different shapes, two canisters being inscribed 'Majesty' and 'Rappee'. On a round snuff-box is a portrait head of George IV. Framed with glass. A certificate of authenticity will be included with this work.   Condition: Ready to hang. In good condition. ( see photos) George Edward Madeley (1798-1858) British engraver, lithographer and printer was recognized for his portraits of prominent people, medical atlases, botanical works, wall charts and separate prints. He also created a series of lithographed satiric designs of tradesmen, based on the compositions of G. Spratt. Madeley's works are held at the British National Portrait Gallery, the British Museum and the V&A. Madeley was busy and financially successful, he tended to focus upon niche commissions, such that his print runs tended to be very limited; almost all his works are very rare today.                                       Shipping fees: United States/ Canada: 40 dollars.
