Description: SYMPaTHETIC MaGIC MICHAEL BLUMENTHAL 1982 LIKE NEW 1st ED 3rd PRINTING ART THEO FRIED Limited editions of this book are available worldwide. 1st & 2nd printing were 500 copies each. This 3rd printing was 600 copies in paperback only due to the death of artist Theo Fried. This one has a blue cover. I can find no others like this cover or a reason why this one is RARE! This book is clean and tight throughout. No markings on any pages. Does not appear to have been read by anyone who actually opened a page. That’s why my inside photos were difficult to do. There is no discoloration, book’s only flaw I can discern is a very slight spine slope. Covers clean and sharp. Poetry and art are exceptionally good. Blumenthal's debut collection, Sympathetic Magic (Water Mark Press, 1980), received the Water Mark Poets of North America First Book Prize. In his foreword to Blumenthal's first book, Charles Fishman wrote: "Like Gerald Stern or David Ignatow, Blumenthal has a genuine comic gift as well as a broad, deep sensibility that encompasses and transforms nearly everything he touches—nearly everything that touches him." About his work, Grace Schulman has said, "Michael Blumenthal has the intelligence to sort out complexities, the innocence to see the world new, and the craft to combine those.” Shipped via USPS Media Mail
