Description: ***PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU COMMIT TO BIDDING/BUYING. THIS ITEM HAS PERFORMANCE FLAWS/DEFECTS.*** -Up for sale: a Sony SLV-998HF VCR. This is being sold on behalf of my late father, who serviced the VCR. Though this item was mostly restored to working order, it has some flaws that affect its operation. Keep reading for more details. -IMPORTANT NOTE: -If tapes are recorded using Line In 1, the recording quality will be poor. The audio sounds okay, but the picture sometimes becomes distorted. If the video is in color, it will randomly change to black and white. (Line In 2 does NOT have the same issue. Tapes that were recorded using this input looked and sounded good!) -Additionally: the rewinding and fast-forwarding functions work, but the speed that it rewinds/forwards tapes is inconsistent. Sometimes it will act fast, other times it will be a little slower. The speed changes are random and I'm not sure why this happens, but it had no negative impact on the tapes themselves. See video for an example of how this looks. -All other functions on this VCR still work properly, despite the defects. VCR powers on/off normally and tapes can be inserted/ejected. VCR can play tapes as intended. The buttons and other controls on the VCR all work. Tapes that were used on this VCR showed no signs of damage after testing. Video and audio quality is good overall. -VCR has minor cosmetic flaws: there are small scratches and scuff marks on its surface, but is otherwise in great condition.
