Description: This is a 5.5" by 4.5" piece of paper that has two autographs, one on each side. On one side it has the autograph of Rev. William R. Watson (1872-1946),who was senior Grand Chaplain of theGrand Lodge of Masons of New York State from 1907 to 1932. Rev. Watson wasRector of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bay Shore, New York from 1916 until his death in a car accident in 1946. He was also an honorary canon of the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, New York. On the other side it has the autograph ofRev. Oscar Maddaus (1878-1969). He was the Pastor of the Manhasset Dutch Reformed Church, in Nassau County, New York, for more than forty years, from 1907 to 1950. These autographs originally belonged to Clifford J. Benfield (1924-2018), who started his collection of autographs of church leaders and notable visitors as a choirboy in the 1930s. A veteran of WW2, Cliff had a long successful career in business. He served as Vice President at Columbia Records, and as an Executive Vice President at CBS, The Lowes Corporation, and American Express. He was founder and president of Hay Career Consultants. His life experiences included being held at the age of twoby Charles Lindbergh, shortly before the takeoff of the Spirit of St. Louis. He was married to his wife Eunice for 68 years.
