Description: "AS IS" - No Returns - Wonderful handmade Kani Kashmir Shawl. ~ 70" x 76". While there are many of this style from this prior around 1850 (Dogra Period) one doesn't see to many of this pattern with the central motif present. It looks to be a 16 petal Lotus Flower. "The lotus flower is a revered symbol in many cultures. It represents purity, enlightenment and spiritual awakening. The 16 petals of the lotus are often interpreted as the 16 virtues of qualities that lead to enlightenment." I searched shawls for this pattern online and there was only one I found. It's owned by The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. While I can't put a link in my eBay auction, it can be found by searching google for: Title: Shawl, Date: ca. 1850, Culture: Indian (Kashmiri), Medium: wool, Credit Line: Gift of Mrs. George R. Galbraith, 1992, Accession Number: 1992.295.2. Overall is good condition. Typical small holes in the black center area. Some of the panels around the edge are partially worn away. Some damage on one corner like it was torn a little, maybe from a tag. Please click on all photos and if you right click and open in a separate window they can be viewed at full size which will help with looking at the condition. Ask questions prior to bidding. I will ship quickly. Thank you! "AS IS" - No Returns
