Possible pagination error, Vol II should have started with page 339 and ended with 723. Very good minus books. Original paper covered boards, leather spine with five slightly raised bands, gilt numbers stamped in the third sections. Boards are very soiled and stained. Head and tail bands missing from both and approx. 1/8"-1/4" missing from heads and tail of spines. Most board edges are rubbed through. Front and back spine folds are cracked, Vol II is barely holding. Upper edges are rough trimmed, side and lower edges are untrimmed; all edges are age- and soil-darkened. Pseudo book-plates on the front paste-downs, many pencilled notes on the front paste-down and FFEP of Vol I. Several internal gutter cracks in both volumes. Pages 451/452 have a 3 1/2" by 1 5/8" rectangular loose section in the lower fore-edge corner. Text pages are age-toned, very minimal foxing. Text blocks are holding, but just.
