Description: Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989) Original color wood engraving “Purgatorio – Canto 3, The Neglectful” Hand signed by Dali and numbered "g.a. III/VIII" on BRK Rives paper with Les Heures Claires blind stamp and Park West registration # label on verso. The "g.a." numbered series was limited to only 8 and is more valuable as it traces its provenance directly from the personal collection of Giuseppe Albaretto; Dali's longtime friend and business partner. I own a number of "g.a." Dali's which all came from Part West Galleries and have included a photo of the label on back of the matting from one of them with their statement of the date these were signed and that they came directly from the Albaretto's personal collection. You will not receive the actual label as I am only including it to show provenance. Also shown in the photos is the relevant page from Albert Fields official guide to Dali's art; it explains the Albaretto Dali editions with the "g.a." roman numbering. “Purgatorio – Canto 3, The Neglectful” Dalí’s depiction of Canto 3 presents the gates of penance, the entry to Purgatory proper. The artwork embodies the moment of introspection and commitment to the purgatorial journey, blending surreal imagery with the symbolic significance of Dante’s narrative. One of 100 Dali wood engravings illustrating ‘The Divine Comedy’ by Dante Alighieri. See my excellent feedback and satisfied buyers who have bought Dali and other major artists works from me. There are Dali fakes all over eBay, so if you are buying a hand-signed Dali, ensure it is printed on the correct paper for the series and has the correct watermark or blind stamp; solid provenance is also a huge factor and this item has it all! Gallery price for this Dali would be over $7,000. The close relationship between Salvador Dalí and his patrons Drs. Giuseppe and Mara Albaretto resulted in a body of stunning, career-defining artwork that includes hundreds of paintings and graphic works, including the famous Divine Comedy Series that can be seen in most prestigious galleries around the worls.
