Description: This is a rare and unusual Russian Sewing Clamp with Pin Cushion made of steel and inlaid with floral and leaf decoration. The clamp is made in the form of a chest with four small round ball feet and topped with a blue velvet pincushion. This pincushion is a method of holding pins at hand while working on a project, making it a perfect complement to the clamp. The original screw device for fixing the clamp to a table top are attached to the bottom of this chest. It is a rare find for collectors of sewing memorabilia and is attributed to the Russia Imperial Arms Factory at Tula, Russia dating from the early 1800's. This item is a must-have for anyone who appreciates the art of sewing or the history of Russia. There is some rust residue around the screw threads and the pin cushion cover is probably an old replacement.
