Description: This is a vintage real photo postcard (RPPC), which is postally used and postmarked 1911. Postcard features a view of the Indian Capitol Building of the Creek Nation (or Creek National Capitol) in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Okmulgee, Oklahoma was the capitol of the Native American Creek Nation from 1867 until 1907 when Oklahoma became a state. The building was capitol of the Creek Nation from 1878 until 1907. After statehood, the US Government took control over the building and in 1919 it was sold to the City of Okmulgee. In 2010, the Council House was sold back to the Creek Tribe and the building now houses the Creek Council House Museum.
