Description: This listing is for one traditionally brain tanned, hair-on, painted buffalo hide. This was prepared using real veal brains in a traditionally manner by a non-Native origin European man living in Canada who is now Lakota. This is the only hand-painted brain tanned hide we have like this. You will receive the exact hide as shown in the photos. Please make sure to look at the photos closely for any holes, hair slips, or other unique features. The can in the photos for size reference is a standard North American pop can. Measurements: 74" on the skin side down the spine of the skin 71" on the skin side across the middle of the skin Weight: 10 lbs. Notes on hide: Short hair length. Backing is flexible. A few small holes on the back. This buffalo hide came from a ranch-raised Canadian buffalo that was raised for food. The buffalo was not killed just for the hide. Genus and species: Bison bison.
