Description: A pristine RCA Victor dog statue of the famous British dog, Nipper, featured in Francis Barraud's "His Master's Voice" painting. RCA later purchased the rights to the painted image and utilized it as their "mascot". This piece is made of chalkware and hails from the 1950's to 1960's. It is in wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. (Some photos appear to show chips, but those are from flash glare when the photos were taken.) He measures in at approximately 14.5" tall by 14" long by 6" wide. Most chalkware pieces were generally detailed depictions of their subject matter, but the artist who created this piece did an outstanding job. The proportion and detail are really fine. His head is slightly tilted off to one side as he "listens". His black collar depicts "brass" studs on the "leather" surface. His little toenails, ears, and nose are black, while his body is white. His brown intaglio style eyes are well done with black pupils. And he has a sweet mouth that almost seems to smile. Just outstanding. It is very rare to find a chalkware piece with no damage. We have lovingly cared for this little guy for quite some time! Please see my other listings for more antiques and collectibles.
