Description: Please find for sale a Rare Napoleon Bonaparte Aide Mémoire, Antique Memo Pad, Note Pad, Circa 1900. It measures approx 5.7cm x 3.5cm . In good used condition with age related wear and a small hole as per photos . The original pencil that would have gone on the right hand side closing it is missing . The original paper pad appears to be intact with only a few pages missing and some writing on a couple of the pages. This is a very rare French aide mémoire from the late 19th century. The front and back covers of these popular memo pads were typically silver plated. They were sold as souvenirs; and front covers were often decorated with an image of a famous place or person. The subject of this little aide mémoire is the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. On the front cover, the profile of Napoleon is clearly defined. Garlands of laurel leaves, representing his military victories, surround the image. On the left is an eagle, a favorite Napoleonic symbol; and on the top right is a fleur-de-lis, the centuries long symbol of France. The front is hinged and there is a small ring at the top. Another fleur-de-lis is found just above the hinge. The back cover is decorated with a garland of flowers.
