Description: Here offered is a really neat and quite rare specimen with clusters of tetragonal magnetite crystals in vugs within the quartz gangue. There are multiple vugs on both sides with dozens and dozens of magnetite crystals, some with quite nice iridescence and metallic lusters. I only ever found one single larger specimen with magnetite crystals that I then broke down and this is the last piece I have to offer. The Capps mine is situated in the Charlotte district which once had over a 100 active gold mines in production. Since the 1800s, almost all the mines, including the Capps Mine, have been built over by urban sprawl. This is quite unfortunate since many of the mines had a wealth of excellent micro crystals of various species and of course, had a lot of rich gold ore as well. This is an amazing example of one of those excellent crystallized minerals! 5.5x6x3.7 cm
