Description: An original antique, copper-plate engraved map titled 'A Second Plan of Rome representing its situation after the Union between Romulus & Tatius' engraved by John Blundell and published in ‘An Universal History, from the Earliest Account of Time’ (Vol. 11) in London in 1747. It depicts the fortified early Rome under its founder Romulus and the surrounding area. Key features are labelled A-P and identified below the image. The printed area measures approximately 149mm x 255mm and is uncoloured as published, blank verso. Condition report: Very good condition; light age toning; diagonal closed tear of approx. 1.3cm at the right edge of the sheet where the map was bound into the original publication. There are several intentional old fold creases because it was originally published in a 8vo volume (approx. leaf size 12cm x 20cm) so the sheet on which the map was printed was required to be folded and trimmed to fit. Please study the photographs carefully.
