Description: >Offered here for your consideration is an old & original 1969-73 University of OREGON DUCKS team-issued track and field uniform sweatsuit top/hoodie!! Please see all seven photos, as they are an important part of my description, as is the "History" below of the offered hoodie. This vintage game-worn (track meet worn) track & field warmup was made by Champion Knitwear (U.S.A.) and is a size "Medium". This beyond rare vintage track and field warmup hoodie appears to be made of a thick and heavy woolen material; its measurements are approximately 23" (from top of neckline to bottom hem) by 21" (armpit-to-armpit). The satin "Oregon" letters on the hoodie's back are individually stitched-on, as is the number "4" on one of the sleeves. The heavy-duty zipper says "Talon" on both sides. There are no pockets or pouches present. The offered track suit hoodie is guaranteed to have been worn by an Oregon Ducks track and field athlete here in Eugene, Oregon at the old, historic Hayward Field between the years 1969-73...which includes the years that distance runner Steve Prefontaine was competing for the Ducks! <>History: a few decades ago, I acquired four of these identical Oregon Ducks team-issued woolen hoodies (along with other misc. Oregon track items) from a gentleman who had ties to former U. of O. head coach Bill Dellinger. The offered hoodie is the last one of the lot. The gentleman pointed out that one of the four hoodies had the name "Bence" written onto the Champion label; Steve Bence was a middle-distance runner (880/mile), part of whose career running for the Ducks (1971-72; 1972-73) overlapped with Prefontaine's career at Oregon (1969-73). The "Champion Knitwear" label present on the hoodie was utilized by the Champion Co. during the 1950's and 1960's. Back in those days, college teams simply reused team uniforms for literally years as a cost-cutting decision. Based on the info. the gentleman supplied to me (in addition to the Steve Bence provenance on a hoodie I've previously sold), I am confident that the U.O. track warm-up I offer here originates to the Steve Prefontaine era! <>Condition: in *Outstanding Shape* overall, showing only normal age/handling faults...nice!!! There are no ugly stains; there's one tiny hole in one of the sleeve cuffs. This piece of Oregon Ducks track history is not to be missed!
