Description: This is a beautiful and very old Haida Argillite ceremonial dress ornament or pendant (?) It's a thin and large rectangular pedant with traditional Formline designs/ ovoids...and a stylized ancestors face. The hole through the lower power portion of the face was probably drilled with a primitive drill via a very old technique. Also, note the red pigmentation in the grooves...(vermillion)??? Just beautiful !!! Lots of old scratches everywhere on the surface...and some chips (study photos well). In very good condition overall. A rare and important Haida artifact! Measures.... 4 inches X 2.25 inches.
