Description: This is rare Northwest Coast (Coast Salish), Vancouver Island area wooden roasting tongs. It dates to the late 19th century. This was used to roast Salmon and other large fish. *** See last three images. The wood is Red Cedar. This specimen exhibits some superficial burn marks. It's in very good condition for its +100 years of age. Very few such have survived. It's a museum quality piece. Dark surface patina. Measurements: 47 inches.
