Due to the scarcity of this dustjacket, I have added an embossed digital watermark to these images to avoid unauthorized duplication. About Author: Mary Roberts Rinehart [1876-1958], born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was a best selling author for several decades in the early 20th century. She gained immediate success with her first mystery novel, The Circular Staircase in 1908 which was followed by several more very successful mysteries establishing her popularity as America's Agatha Christie. Many of her novels were made into theatrical productions as well as silent films. Her wildly popular first novel, The Circular Staircase would later be made into a 1920 Broadway play titled The Bat. Later, The Bat would be produced as both a 1926 United Artists silent film, and later remade as a 1390 United Artists talkie titled The Bat Whispers.
