Description: Wonderful Lot of 17 Original Signed Publicity Photos of numerous Actors and Actresses all who did or very likely appeared at the Ambassador Theatre, St. Louis, MO. In 1930s. The autographs are all personalized to Sammy who must have been employee or possibly appeared in productions at the Theatre. One autograph hopes Sam becomes a big star so he must have had acting aspirations. Most measure 8 x 10" except one is 5 x 8". On back of some photos Sam wrote the dates ranging 1933-37 with names. A few only have photographer studio stamp but all are addressed to Sammy on front. Some also have multiple autographs. We looked everyone up and some had minor Hollywood careers but possibly some never went to Hollywood and remained only in the theatre. Collection includes signed photos from Billie Burns, Muriel Page, Steve Evans, Helene Heller, Ruthie Barnes, Marie Starnes, Anette Ames, Elaine Dowling (2 photos), Linda Lee, Benny Rob, Virginia Watson, Herman Hyde and Sally Burrie, Dorothy Murphy, Marissa Prisnell, Jackie Hilley and single photo of three women appears to Eda, Bea and Clara? Cannot discern last name. The Ambassador opened in 1926 to great fanfare it was a spectacular structure and considered one of the best entertainment venues in the country. It fell on hard times in the 1970's and was stupidly demolished n 1976. Photo conditions fair overall creases and wear and small tears and pieces can be missing and foxing and fading and general wear from age. Zoom in on pics as part of description.
