LORETTA YOUNG on the air - Vintage Radio Shows OTR-CDs

Description: LORETTA YOUNG ON THE AIR… SET THREE – THE GREEN SET Classic OTR! Beautiful and talented actress Loretta Young is presented here in 12 of her radio performances, on 9 CD’s. Loretta was a prolific radio actress, appearing in dozens of shows, so be sure to check my other auctions for sets one and two (the pink & blue sets!) These are completely different shows! ABOUT MY CD’S: *These are audio CD’s (not MP3’s) – listen to them on any CD player, stereo, walkman, DVD player, in your car, or on your computer – no inconvenience! *All CD’s come with a beautiful, full-color label, complete with jewel cases and will be very well packed for shipping. *Only in rare circumstances will I put less than 1 hour on a CD…I try to provide as many shows as possible on the CD’s, this way you are not paying for extra CD’s instead of extra shows. *I try to be very honest about the sound quality and try in most cases to explain if there are any sound problems with individual shows…so be sure and read the show descriptions. Every show has been listened to for this purpose. In many cases I will tweak the audio if I can, or edit together the best quality parts of multiple copies of the same show. I do eliminate shows in which I feel the sound is too poor to be enjoyable for listening. Only in very rare circumstances, when the show is extremely hard to find will I include shows with poor sound. Of course, these are vintage shows, so some imperfections should be expected. *I try wherever possible to find the most unusual and hardest to find shows for each star and I update my sets regularly. *In the case of stars who appeared in a high volume of shows, I will offer multiple sets to keep costs low, but variety of shows high. I hope you will enjoy these classic shows as much as I do. If you’re a fan of Loretta Young or of classic radio (OTR), this is the set for you! Hear Loretta perform classic roles, which she never got to do on film, “The Barretts of Wimpole Street” and “Love Letters.” Also hear her in her classic roles in “The Farmer’s Daughter” and “Come to the Stable.” Plus much more! I must say Loretta was just wonderful on the radio! Here is what you get in the Loretta Young “Green Set” – CD #1 Lux Radio Theatre “And Now Tomorrow” (1945 – romantic drama) – Loretta stars opposite Alan Ladd in this story of a deaf woman who falls in love with the doctor trying to cure her. Both stars reprise their roles from the film of the same name. Some pops on this show, but still listenable. 1 hour. CD #2 Lux Radio Theatre “Christmas Holiday” (1945 – suspense) – Loretta stars opposite William Holden and David Bruce in this suspense thriller of a woman whose murderous husband escapes from prison. From the novel by W. Somerset Maugham. The film of the same name had starred Deanna Durbin, Dean Harens and Gene Kelly. 1 hour. CD #3 Lux Radio Theatre “Love Letters” (1946 – drama) – Loretta stars opposite Joseph Cotten in this story of love, amnesia, murder and more! A great story, very well done. CD #4 Lux Radio Theatre “The Barretts of Wimpole Street” (1946 – drama) – Loretta stars opposite Brian Aherne in this classic story of poets Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning and how she escaped the iron hand of her domineering and twisted father. Loretta is very good in this role. The film had starred Norma Shearer and Fredric March. The commercials have been edited from this show and there is a very slight drop in the volume in the third act. 1 hour. CD #5 Lux Radio Theatre “The Farmer’s Daughter” (1948 – comedy) – Loretta stars Joseph Cotten in this story of a Swedish maid who finds her way into congress. A classic role for Loretta. Both stars reprise their roles from the film of the same name. 1 hour. CD #6 Lux Radio Theatre “Mother Is a Freshman” (1949 – comedy) – Loretta stars opposite Van Johnson in this story of a woman who goes to college along with her daughter and competes for the love of the handsome professor there. Both stars reprise their roles from the film of the same name. The commercials have been edited from this show and there are a couple of very minor skips. 1 hour. CD #7 Lux Radio Theatre “Come to the Stable” (1950 –drama) – Loretta stars opposite Hugh Marlowe in this story of two nuns trying to raise enough money to build a children’s hospital. Both stars reprise their roles from the film of the same name. The commercials have been edited and the sound is very slightly muffled, but still listenable. 1 hour. CD #8 Family Theater “The Treasury of Homes” (1951 – inspirational) – Loretta hosts and narrates this story of how the home is the backbone of our nation. 30 minutes. “Just for Tonight” (1952 – inspirational drama) – Loretta stars opposite Gigi Perreau in this story of an actress who takes a job as a housekeeper in order to get room and board for one night, however, she finds herself drawn to the family when she sees a parallel between their problems and her own. 30 minutes. CD #9 Family Theater “The Longest Hour” (1953 – inspirational drama) – Loretta hosts and narrates this story of the writing Declaration of Independence, which stars Robert Stack and Gene Lockhart. A few small pauses in this show, but doesn’t affect listening. 30 minutes. Hedda Hopper’s Hollywood “Come to the Stable” (1951 – gossip) – Loretta appears on Hedda Hopper’s show to discuss her role in “Come to the Stable” and perform a scene from the film. 30 minutes. Guest Star “The Headliner” (1953 – variety) – Loretta stars in this story of an actress who is jealous of her sports-star husband’s publicity and fame. 15 minutes.
