Daughters of some of my fastest growing hives, with exceptional wax building ability and very low swarming tendency. Honey production ability and gentleness is also selected for, and these queens show exceptional promise. These queens have a tendency to hoard pollen even with a vast supply. These queens are a gentle cross between Italian and Carniolan, with the Italian being the main phenotype for this breeding project, attributing the most to their gentleness. The carniolan provides disease resistance, a longer tongue by nature, hive defense, and reduced levels of robbing. ORIGINS OF MY MITE MAULERS x VSH: They were bred with Redline's Genetics and originated from Bob Carpenter's stock. Original VSH stock crossed via Artificial Insemination, including some Open-mated Carniolans, and other genetics sourced from multiple sources including Local, Harbo, Purdue University, and Olivarez Honeybees, as well as Hawaiian stock for pollination capability and honey productivity. These bees were made to WORK. You will receive 1 grafted, NATURALLY MATED queen bee with VSH type SMR, italian genotype. VSH(Varroa Sensitive Hygiene)type SMR(Suppresses Mite Reproduction) is a genetic behavioral trait in which the worker offspring of the queen have a high chance of exhibiting mite reproduction suppression(SMR), which means the workers will uncap brood voluntarily when a female mite is detected in the brood, therefore stopping the life cycle of the varroa mite, as once the brood is uncapped the larvae and eggs of the mite are effectively shocked from temperature fluctuation, or removal and ultimately die. (LIMITED): If you would like your queen to be artificially inseminated instead with guaranteed genetics, please go into my page and select "Artificial Insemination Procedure", which will be an upcharge of 100 USD PER Queen, which is a lot cheaper than most breeders offer. My drone stock are VSH x Mite Mauler stock originally sourced from Purdue, Harbo and Olivarez Honeybees. You will be getting a mix of all these of my genetics from unrelated genetically-diverse hives for maximum characteristic variety. This is the best way. Length of queens are at nearly 1 inch, unmated. Queens are shipped Mondays and Tuesdays in order to guarantee timely arrival. QUEENS ARE CERTIFIED FREE OF AFRICANIZATION- HOWEVER, IF NATURALLY MATED OPTION IS SELECTED, I CANNOT GUARANTEE THE OFFSPRING WILL BE AFRICANIZATION-FREE. DESPITE THIS FACT, I OVERLOAD MY APIARIES WITH MY OWN DRONES ALL YEAR ROUND TO REDUCE THE CHANCES. SO FAR I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES. NOTE: During transport, queen bees have the ability to shrink their abdomen. This is normal, and it serves a purpose in nature. Queen bees can elongate/retract their abdomens at will depending on multiple factors such as: flight preparation, resources, laying activity, as well as when she is ready to swarm, in order to have better flight control. Please do not be alarmed if queen is smaller than listing mentioned. At about a week of being integrated into the hive, you should be able to see her true length under regular circumstances. Queens are from an 8+ year lineage of treatment-free survivor hives.
