Description: A stunning and perfect example of an ammonite fossil of the species Caloceras johnstoni from North Somerset, UK. The matrix measures 155 mm (6.1 inches) across and the ammonite measures 57 mm. The shell sits in the original limestone matrix in which it was found that has been shaped and has a cut-flat base to allow it to be displayed freely standing. The ammonite is well preserved and has been prepared out of the rock to reveal the shell, which is unusually preserved in pure white rather than the usual iridescence in these fossils. The detail in the shell is great. The fossil weighs 675 grams. Around 200 million years old (Hettangian, Early Jurassic), this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Please take some time to check out my other items and to add me to your favorites list. Combined shipping: I offer combined shipping on all of my fossils. If you wish to purchase multiple fossils, just send a message to let me know and I can hold any order open for up to 25 days from the first auction win/purchase for more fossils to be added to the order. After you have finished adding items to an order, let me know and I will combine the shipping to the lowest amount possible for your items. The shipping cannot be combined automatically due to the large variation in weight of the fossils and the costs of different weight classes of the Royal Mail. Contact me if you have any questions and I will be happy to help!
