Home country ETERNA original analog tape latest reprint plan SACD hybridization 25th On the 125th anniversary of Mendelssohn's death in 1972, not only the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester, but also Masur, who studied at the Leipzig Conservatory, and Bosse, who was a concertmaster at the time, were recorded on the ETERNA label. In 2022, exactly 50 years after its release, the venerable complete works will be fully upgraded with high sound quality. The 175th anniversary of Mendelssohn's death, the 200th anniversary of his composition (the music was composed in 1821-23), the 100th anniversary of Bosse's birth, and the 95th anniversary of Masur's birth. The sound quality is also an excellent recording by the former East German camp at that time, and the clear sound of stringed instruments is particularly wonderful, and it is a superb reproduction that maximizes the best of modern reproduction technology. Please pay attention to the reproducibility because it is SACD. In addition, all 14 songs were recorded on 3 discs. Each board is recorded for a long time exceeding 80 minutes. This "Complete Symphonies for Strings" not only presents a vivid, shadowy, and structured performance by a master conductor and a prestigious orchestra, but also demonstrates the deep connection between Bach, Leipzig, and Mendelssohn from the postwar period to the present day. This is an irreplaceable recording for understanding the Mendelssohn Renaissance. Mendelssohn (1809-1847), as you know, was born the son of a wealthy banker and spent his boyhood in Berlin, where he studied art, literature, languages and philosophy with the best teachers. His musical teacher was Karl Friedrich Zelter (1758-1832), who loved the music of the Bach family. When I was 12-14 years old, I wrote all 13 "symphonies for strings" for the Mendelssohn family's Sunday concerts, which gathered talented string players in Berlin. Each piece lasts more than 10 minutes, and is filled with beautiful melodies, making full use of a variety of harmonies and counterpoint reminiscent of Bach. It is full of masterpieces. Mendelssohn's boyhood works were long forgotten after the premiere, and in the first half of the 20th century, the Nazis banned their performance in Germany, and its revival was delayed. However, riding on the boom in chamber orchestras after the war, the I Musici Ensemble, the Paillard Chamber Orchestra, and the Academy Chamber Orchestra began to take up some of his works, and with the 125th anniversary of Mendelssohn's death in 1972 approaching, Helmut Helmut also performed in East Germany. The original edition of all songs edited by Christian Wolff has been published by Deutscher Verlag fur Musik in Leipzig. This "Complete Works" by Masur and the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra was also recorded 125 years after Mendelssohn's death. Looking back at the years of activity of Bach and Mendelssohn, as well as the birth years of conductor Masur and concertmaster Bosse, interesting facts emerge. Bach moved to Leipzig in 1723, Mendelssohn wrote his Symphony for Strings in 1821-23, Bosse was born in 1922, and Masur in 1927. In other words, they are about 100 years apart. For Mendelssohn, Bach is like his grandfather, and for Bosse and Masur, Mendelssohn is like Leipzig 100 years senior. In recent years, the performance of Mendelssohn's works has been flooded with a wave of historical considerations, and some players have consciously used radical expressions, but the performances by Bosse and Mazur here show no such frivolity. Both Bosse and Masur studied at the Leipzig Conservatory founded by Mendelssohn, and have experienced and digested the changes in stringed instrument performance and strings (from gut strings to steel strings) in their careers. It seems that they were able to focus on the pursuit of the ideal tone and ideal expression by using modern playing methods and modern instruments, while being fully aware of the differences in historical playing methods and instruments. The mellow high strings, rich midrange, and thick low strings that you hear on this disc, the wonder of a seamless ensemble, the charm of organic tones, and the joy of musical dialogue are inheritors of the tradition since Mendelssohn. It is supported by an unwavering awareness as a person, and approaches the listener with a strong persuasive power. It can be said that it has something in common with the attitude of Berlin's talented players who performed the masterpiece of the boy genius at the time of the premiere with the highest musicality and technique. For this reprint, the master tape was airlifted from the label to the studio of Mr. Christoph Stickel, a mastering engineer living in Vienna, where it was mastered in the analog domain, and then converted to DSD for the SACD layer and digitized. PCM for the CD layer is made into a product by another system. In this project, we achieved mastering in the most ideal way possible. The effect is remarkable, it is possible to reproduce the quality left on the master tape extremely faithfully, and mastering only in the analog domain and direct DSD have brought about a more effective sound quality. With its surprisingly clear and high resolution compared to its predecessor, the performance is expected to receive further evaluation.Work information MainConductor: Kurt MasurOrchestra: Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra OthersComposer: Felix Mendelssohn Contents Number of components | 3 sheets Track Listing: Felix Mendelssohn Disk 1 1.
