This feature is designed to clean hair and lint better, as well as set up more agitation for sand removal. If your Kirby is not picking up the way it should, and the bag is not over-filled, a bad belt or a worn rollerbrush are usually at fault. Brushrolls to clean properly must have enough bristle left to extend about 1/8 inch below the rug plate. Adjustment is achieved by rotating the end caps. There are hash marks and numbers on each end cap. When the bristles are new rotate the end caps so that a single hash mark and the number 1 is facing out when the brush roll is in the nozzle. As it becomes worn, rotate the end caps to two hash marks, then three. If you have adjusted your brush roll to 3 and do not have 1/8 inch of bristle beyond rug plate you need a new brush roll. This Brush Roll has the magnet to operate the sensor light, and sealed ball bearings behind the end caps. The bearings are maintenance free, but on rare occasions thread or hair will get behind the end caps and wrap around the bearing, the end caps can be pulled off the bearing for removal of thread and hair. You should only do one end at a time to avoid mixing the end caps, as each end cap must go back on the bearing from which it was removed. I do list the original G5/6 brush roll in my store's. To keep the weight down on this part I package it in a strong Dupont Tyvek envelope or in a tube. The default shipping option is First Class, if your need if faster you may select Priority.
