Description: There are vintage crystal earrings - and then there are these! I am completely transfixed by them. They are mouth-wateringly good. Robert De Mario jewellery is genuinely scarce. There simply wasn't much of it made under his own name. All of it was manufactured between 1945 and 1965 and early pieces, such as these 1940s earrings, are difficult to find and eagerly sought out by collectors. De Mario designs were often very three-dimensional and these earrings showcase that classic multi-layering which gives so much impact and drama to the design. The rhinestones are exquisite. They are a mix of emerald-green and sapphire-blue in round and tear-drop shapes, individually prong-set and wired in layers to show an amazing depth of colour. The leaf decoration and the filigree reverse of the earrings is very similar to Miriam Haskell pieces and De Mario is said to have worked for her company when he first arrived in America from Italy. The earrings are in excellent vintage condition. There is no visible damage. The rhinestones are all perfect and the secure clips are clearly signed De Mario NY.Please note that the Haskell necklace in the final image is not included with the earrings. I have photographed them together to show the close family resemblance and because they are a wonderful combination. The necklace is for sale separately so please do take a look at my other listings for this and many more vintage pieces you may like.
