Description: This is an original oil painting by Beth Riso. This backyard scene is of the artist's patio and outbuilding and is done on a linen canvas. Beth Riso is a 39 year resident of Nyack, NY, where she raised her daughter, who is now 38. Beth is also a local real estate broker, and a former NYC school teacher of 20 years. Throughout her busy life, Beth has studied painting. She took painting and drawing classes at Rockland Community College, Westchester County Art Center, and most of all; Rockland Center for the Arts. Her style can be considered 'realism,' with a touch of impressionism. Locally, she might be considered 'Hopper like' as Edward Hopper's house is right down the hill from where she livers. She wants to get to 'know' many subjects, and therefore has quite a bit of versatility in her paintings; including: portraits, landscapes, still lives, street scenes and beach scenes. She loves the grace, and subtle beauty of nature's forms, and strives to express her feelings towards her subjects, with contrasting colors, and carefully chosen compositions.
