Description: This 1987 stereo import album from the Russian label Мелодия (Melodiya) (C10 14909-10) features performances of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 30 in E major, Op. 109 and Piano Sonata No. 31 in A flat major, Op. 110. Both are performed on piano by Emil Gilels. Album notes state that these recordings from 1985 are the last made by Emil Gilels, who is described in the notes as "gravely ill at that time" and who died in October of that year. The outer sleeve shows some wear and bending at all four corners, but no splits. This is one of many titles from an extensive collection of classical LPs and CDs that we will be listing here.
