Description: BARITE CRYSTAL on FLUORITE - 13.3 cm - HILTON MINE, ENGLAND 22080 BARITE CRYSTAL on FLUORITE - 13.3 cmHILTON MINE, ENGLAND The Hilton Mine was first worked in 1824 and produced a bounty of rich ore and world class yellow fluorite specimens from England. Over the many years the specimens were harvested and kept in collections. The mine property is now on an artillery range of the armed forces and entry is very limited. Underground conditions are so hazardous that entry has been prohibited. The specimens we offer come from collecting done around 1965. This is a very good undamaged cabinet size specimen of Hilton fluorite that features complete coverage of yellow crystals on the display side with an undamaged white barite crystal in the center. The non fluorescent barite crystal measures 30 mm. Barite and fluorite crystals are also seen on the bottom side. The crystals are complete and undamaged and it makes this a great display piece. The fluorite crystals have a bright glow when placed under a UV LW lamp; typical fluorescence for the specimens of this mine.
