Atari CX2600 'Heavy Sixer' Six Switch Console Sunnyvale 1977 *RARE!*

Description: Vintage Arcading The Legend… For your consideration is a beautiful and excellently functioning Atari CX2600 Heavy Sixer console. Produced from late 1977 to mid 1978, the 'heavy' nickname stems from the nearly half inch thick plastic bottom that doubled as an RF shield and gave these early versions impeccable reception (and an extra pound of weight!) Everything about the first-year models was quality, and it is very noticeable. From the robust ruggedness to the smooth action of the switches themselves, it's no wonder these models are highly sought after by retro gaming collectors. This auction is for the console only, and it is tested and everything functions as it should. This particular console is beautiful inside and out, complete with original inspection paper taped to the RF shield, it is also an F serial number series (early) with the desirable early green switch board. Color, sound and RF signal have been calibrated, switches have been cleaned and lubed. Picture and sound quality are unbelievable. RF cord is in excellent condition, although the end was replaced at some point in its life. The major blemish is the chunk of plastic broken off the bottom shell near the back corner, shown in the photos. These units are getting difficult to find in this amazing condition. The following has been performed on this unit...· Thorough cleaning inside and out of console, including the contacts in the game cartridge slot.· Reflowed cold solder joints, notably on joystick port plugs.· Cleaned all switch contacts and relubricated switches in console, aluminum switch posts polished. · Calibration of color, sound and RF signal in console.* Functionality of all switches and plugs tested.* Some areas on the bezel trim were touched up with matching Sunnyvale gold paint. Far more than "tested and working", I test each reconditioned console on three different televisions of varying ages and manufacturers that I own to ensure the best picture quality and functionality. Picture quality will vary with television and setup.
