Description: Antique Walking stick or plantation cane, or swagger stick.It is 36 inches tall made of metal, brass and leather. The leather is a series of hand cut cylindrical leather pieces that are about 3/16ths of an inch thick. These have all been individually stacked on the inner metal rod, they taper from 1 inch at top to around 3/8 inch at bottom. Knob cap is copper or brass. Tip is brass/metal. The stacked leather is in great shape on the upper 2/3rds of the shaft. The lower shaft is in worse condition, missing a couple leather rings. It's a bit creepy to think this may have been used to beat people or animals, I hope not! I could only find a couple of these on the internet, each of them sold for nearly $500. I have no provenance for it, so it's priced much less.
